Wild Greater Flamingoes probably reach Britain occasionally but the origin of extralimital records is difficult to judge as escaped birds also occur (such as the ringed bird at the bottom of this page). The species is common in parts of the Mediterranean, nowhere more famously than the Camargue in France from where most of the following photos were taken.

escaped Greater Flamingo, Minsmere (Suffolk, UK), 10th September 2011 - this bird, bearing a blue ring inscribed M30, has wandered around much of southern and eastern Britain and apparently escaped from Marlow Zoo
