Snowy Egret Egretta thula

A North American species that is extremely rare in Europe. There is just one record from the British Isles, an obliging bird that spent the winter in western Scotland in 2001/02.

The first two photos below were taken in this species' normal range in North America whilst the remainder are scans from prints of the sole British record.
